Fall in Pollen Concentration in Islamabad

The severity of pollen concentration in Islamabad is expected to decrease in the next few days signifying the end of this year pollen season. This fall in pollen concentration will be due to another wet spell of rainfall expected in the country during next couple of days according to prediction of Pakistan Meteorological Department. Therefore it is anticipated that the concentration of allergic pollen will reduce from high to low category and individuals susceptible to pollen allergy will experience the relief.

High Pollen Concentration in Islamabad:40,527pcm Pollen trend very likely to increase during this week

The allergic pollen in Islamabad has reached 40,527 per cubic meter on Thursday, with very high concentration of 'Paper Mulberry'. The current atmospheric concentration of allergic pollen lies in VERY HIGH category, and the individuals sensitive to allergic pollens must take precautionary measures.
The meteorological conditions indicate an increasing trend in allergic pollens during the current week.

Paper Mulberry which is considered to be the root cause of pollen allergy in Islamabad, is in low concentration due to unusual late winter rains, especially from mid February to 1st week of March.
According to the Prediction of Pakistan Meteorological Department Islamabad, Dry /Warm weather is expected for Islamabad during next week. An increasing trend of pollen count in the air is expected. The gradually increasing trend in pollen concentration will rise the pollen count from high to very high category during next week.
The individuals susceptible to pollen allergy are advised to take precautionary measures during coming days.

PMD Pollen Alert

Pakistan Meteorological Department has planned to monitor pollen concentration in each sector of Islamabad like previous year from 26th February. Pollen concentration sharply increases in the capital with the onset of spring season and attains its peak around mid March. At least eight types of pollen from Paper Mulberry, Pine, Dandelion, Cannabis, Acacia, Alternaria, Eucalyptus and Grasses have been monitored throughout the year since 2004 at PMD Headquarters in H-8/2 Islamabad. Among them Paper Mulberry pollen is found in abundance and its concentration touches the extreme limits of 45,000 per cubic meter of air at the peak of blossom season. People suffering from Asthma and respiratory diseases experience serious consequences. PMD will continue issuing warnings/advisories for allergy patients as and when the situation arises till the end of the season in mid April. The information about pollen concentration in different sectors of Islamabad will be made available on daily basis to the TV channels, Radio and Newspapers. At the same time, it will be regularly uploaded on PMD website: www.pmd.gov.pk. The allergic pollen in Islamabad have reached 26705 per cubic meter on Saturday, with high concentration of 'Paper Mulberry'. The current atmospheric concentration of allergic pollens lies in VERY HIGH category, and the individuals sensitive to allergic pollens must take precautionary measures.
The meteorological conditions indicate an increasing trend in allergic pollens during the 3rd week (15th- 21st March) of current month.

Dominant Allergic Pollen in Islamabad

Paper Mulberry possess serious problems of pollen allergy in Islamabad is in low concentration and almost harmless for the patients susceptible to Paper Mulberry nowadays. The continuous wet spells is considered to be the main reason. The sprouting of Paper Mulberry has not yet started as a result of delayed onset of spring. Whereas, the atmospheric concentration of Pines, Grasses and Cannabis lies in high category. Therefore, it is advised that individuals sensitive to these allergic pollens must take precautionary measures. It is expected that the trend in allergic pollen will change and the concentration of Paper Mulberry pollen will increase and dominate the other allergic pollen in the second half of March.
