With mutual Agreement WFP and Pakistan Meteorological Department have agreed to the followings:

 

Organize awareness workshops for journalists from print and electronic media for awareness raising and network development for future early weather updates disseminations in the country.

 

Automatic weather stations (AWS) in Tharparkar district and DI Khan district to enhance drought monitoring.

 

 

Develop GPRS communication system for real-time reception of meteorological data being acquired at various parts of the country through AWS.

 

Capacity building of communities through airing of radio programs on climate outlooks and strategies to cope with natural hazards in proactive manner.

Under this initiative, GPRS communication system will be developed for near real-time reception of meteorological data being acquired at various parts of the country through AWS.
